Before I can explain my theory, we have to look at the stages of sleep. There could be other stages, but to my knowledge these are the key things that happen during sleep.

Brain messages
As you begin to relax, your brain begins to send messages to your body. Your muscles begin to relax and you get a tingly feeling in your muscles and your mind begins to wander and think about the day (at least mine does, I don't know what you think about).

Light Sleep
This is the stage where it seems you have lost track of time. You come in and out of real sleep. At this stage your sibling can poke you or you hear a car horn outside and you'll wake up.

Deep Sleep
You are knocked out. A poke isn't going to wake you up now. During this part of the sleep cycle your body's heart beat and body temperature drops. Your body burns the most calories during sleep believe it or not. At this time your body tones it's muscles and repairs things and thus, calories are burned.

Rem
REM, or Rapid Eye Movement, is the final stage of sleep, and it involves dreams. Your body dreams and your brain cleans itself. As you think throughout the day, braincells make connections and the small connections are broken during this stage, which can explain why you forget things in the morning sometimes. Thinking about something longer can make a connection stronger.

Now that we understand sleep we can examine dreams.

In my opinion, dreams are a combinations of key points in your day interpreted through random events. The key word is random. Which can make a dream seem really wacky. For example: Last Monday, I talked to my math teacher and he told me to get a math tutor and later that day I found out my brother had a new girlfriend. And the same night I had a dream that my brother was dating his math tutor. My brain interpreted my day in a random way. It might not always be clear, but I have found this theory to be consistent.

Well there you go! What do you think dreams are? Let me know!
:D

I knew the basic facts, but didn't know dreams differed that much from person to person.,.
Personally, I hardly dream about anything, it's just darkness (as usual) XD sometimes, i dream about something i didn't even think about all day.

Even cats dream.

And yes, you DO dream just as anyone else, but the difference is that you seem to forget about what you dream quite often.

When we dream, many parts of our brain that work with the memory are shut down... and you can't remember your dreams.

We don't remember dreams depending on what stage of sleep we wake up at. If we were just REDing, we'll remember the dream.

Dreams have a lot more than just that. Some dreams are for seeing decisions you make, this has happened to me many times. If i have a chose that I have to make, the next night i think about it go to sleep and when i wake up i review a dream i can remember and it always has something to do with my chose. For example:

A man needs to buy a apartment but can't decide witch one to invest in. HE goes to sleep that night thinking about the decision, and the next morning he reviews a dream and it was that he went into a store that sells suits, he had to choose between a white suit or a black suit and every one around him was telling him to pick the black suit. What did this have to do with his decision? The advertising sign for one of the Apartments was ALL BLACK and the other one was ALL WHITE.

This also has a lot to do with religions and their perspectives.

Yeah, I know those basic stuffs about dreaming, and we just were studying about this at school =P
But that theory is pretty good, but Im not very sure if it is about that.

Yeah, and it's cool that even at night your brain is thinking about all kinds of things.
Many have encountered the situation that you can't find solution to something at the evening, but
after sleeping over the night you just somehow get the answer right when you wake up! =)

Oh, don't be ridiculous. You can't see the future with dreams. Seriously, if we can't do it while awake, how do you expect us to do it while SLEEPING.

It happened by chance.

deja vu is french for 'allready seen'.

-Falling Dreams are usually signs that you are growing ^^
Aside the dreams, i love it when you like twitch while you're half-asleep.
